With speculation rampant that Apple’s ‘iPhone 5S’ will enter production in March, we’re beginning to hear chatter about one of the more significant additions reportedly on tap for the refreshed smartphone.
In a move that would deliver a tremendous security upgrade to the iPhone user experience, Apple may deliver a highly sophisticated fingerprint sensor beneath the iPhone’s home button. Given the basic design of the iPhone, this critical security feature would be unique to the smartphone world in its placement on the handset.
According to published reports Wednesday, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities believes 2013 will be the year when Apple finally collects on its acquisition of AuthenTec. Consequently, the iPhone 5S may become the most secure smartphone of its time.
Beyond the inclusion of the fingerprint sensor, possible inclusion of NFC capabilities, and an A7 chip,
