I have received several requests for the opportunity to read my recent blog/analysis in English. So now this english version is available. It cover the exciting new 3D/Holography-display-technology:ECHO, developed by Realfiction Holding.

The ultimate investment, what would it be?

During my approximately 30 years as an investor, I have always looked for investments at an early stage where the new technology/new drug/or something else could have a revolutionary breakthrough and thus create a fantastic value growth in invested capital. Many times we read about investors who made incredible investments, for example, when Apple, Microsoft, Amazon were founded. The list can be made long.

In Sweden you could mention Ericsson, H&M or in "modern times" Fingerprint Cards which in January 2015 had a price of SEK 5.92 and then peaked at SEK 135 at the end of November 2015, a breathtaking increase of 2180% !! . An investment of SEK 100,000 had grown in about 10-11 months to about 2.3 MSEK! If you had invested SEK 100,000 in Fingerprint Cards in 2008 it would have grown to a total of SEK 37.5 million!

Conclusion=> Find a new technology that can start a technology revolution globally

This new technology has been patent pending since March 2019 and is called ECHO - Behind ECHO we find the company Realfiction, which now faces a potential global breakthrough and a paradigm shift in the display industry.

"This new technology will make it possible to watch, enjoy, use and interact with 3D effects in ways that have so far been exclusive to science fiction movies such as Iron Man, Minority Report, Star Wars, etc."

Can this new technology that goes by the project name ECHO be a new opportunity to invest in something that can impact globally and at an early stage?

I am convinced that ECHO can be a unique opportunity that very rarely comes up. ECHO is a revolutionary technology that can be easily implemented in all types of LCD/OLED displays. Thus implementable in:

01 - Lightfield-/Directional pixels displays, existing technology major limitations

Lightfield/directional pixels technology is used to visualize objects within AR/3D/Holography. All companies that have developed their technologies have one thing in common: All lightfield / directional pixels displays have major shortcomings / limitations, for example:

Bandwidth / CPU capacity. A commercially viable display needs a capacity of 1.5 Gbps to process all the data needed to create a final image
Lack of pixel resolution. In order to obtain a final image, sub-pixels in very high resolution are needed as the final image often becomes only 1: 50 part of the original resolution on sub-pixels.
Lack of color resolution
Pixel long response time
Poor viewing angle (limits viewers' free space)
Bad "ghost-image suppression"
Not scalable for mass production, unjustified high cost

One of the absolute biggest problems with ALL existing technologies in lightfield/directional pixels is the data capacity; too much data processing is required to process the images. This is the case for ALL existing technologies; one example being FOVI3D which also participated in an industry meeting to deal with this problem, from their website you can read the following:

”The bandwidth bottleneck is perhaps the single greatest challenge in the display field today and****a solution to this challenge could have an enormous impact for the advancement of large, sophisticated 3D display systems. The bandwidth requirements of advanced 3D displays, which now approaches one Terapixel per second in some cases, has proven to be a significant challenge for scaling a wide variety of 3D displays, including lightfield, holographic and volumetric displays."

Above is 3D content from FOVI3D, which is very interesting are the following:

FOVI3D and other technologies need extreme resolution on their so-called sub-pixels in order for the final image to achieve even a final low-resolution image. You can only reproduce the 1:50 part of the original sub-pixel resolution. This is partly due to the lack of data processing capabilities
NOTE! ECHO eliminates this problem and delivers a final 1: 1 display image, without the need for data capacity even close to what others need!

02 - ECHO - New Directional Pixel technology - Solves ALL problems - Confirmed externally

Directional pixels technology is well known in the market and it forms the basis for ALL types of glasses-free 3D/Holography/ displays. However, existing technology is incomplete with the majority of disadvantages mentioned above.

ECHO technology is completely revolutionary and is the only technology in the world that eliminates all these problems!

ECHO will cost a fraction of what existing technologies do => Again, ECHO is a discovery described as "The Holy Grail in holography"

External confirmations that ECHO eliminates all existing technology problems

After Realfiction obtained Proof-of-Concept for ECHO, an external search/investigation has been carried out to ensure that ECHO is unique.

Realfiction itself has not been able to find any competing technology that could challenge them. But Realfiction did not settle for that, but hired external actors to get further confirmation that ECHO is unique and patentable.

Both "Danish Patent and Trademark Office" and "Budde Schou, Patent Attorneys" were employed. Brian Jeppesen at Budde Schou has more than 10 years of experience and is considered an expert in lightfield / directional pixel technologies.

These two experts conducted a so-called "Novelty Search" and witnessed the Proof-of-Concept for ECHO and concluded that:

ECHO is unique, no other competitive technology found
At the same time, ECHO eliminated ALL the shortcomings in existing directional pixel technology mentioned above

03 - ECHO ENERGY - TV test on LCD / OLED from Samsung / LG / SONY - Savings in the USA of about $7,4 bn/year (!)

Realfiction has said, from the start, that there will be spin-offs at ECHO, new areas where the technology can be used.

An initial spin-off has been communicated when another fantastic discovery was made. It is about that the basic technology in ECHO can easily be implemented in all types of products that have LCD/OLED displays, all day 2D displays/TV's as well as mobile phones (!) ECHO highlights only those pixels that need to be illuminated at the right time.

The energy savings have been measured to 80%!

ECHO ENERGY can be licensed/sold and implemented in production now.

Realfiction has tested "ECHO ENERGY" on three different makes of display/TV's.

04 - ECHO Proof-of-Concept

In September 2019, an important milestone for ECHO was achieved when the technology was proven by obtaining Proof-of Concept.

"The essence of the Proof of Concept is the demonstration that directional pixels can be constructed using ECHO technology, which is much more precise, faster and scalable to larger displays than other types of directional pixels."

The discovery of ECHO in AR/3D /holography is huge and is thus described as a Holy Grail that all major players in the industry wanted to discover!

05 - ECHO - Patent

In early 2019, Realfiction filed several patent applications for ECHO. Subsequently, patents have also been filed for a completely different function than AR / 3D / holograms, namely an energy saving of as much as 80% (!) When the ECHO technology is implemented in a display / TV within LCD / OLED. NOTE! ECHO Energy belongs to the basic technology within ECHO, so it is nothing that extends the handling time of the patent.

06 - Applications in AR/3D/Holography

The uses of ECHO in these segments are almost endless. AR/ 3D/ Holography will be implemented throughout the community both within companies and for people in many areas.

07 - ECHO - 1st Beta version of Full HD LCD display successfully completed

On February 6, another major milestone of Realfiction regarding ECHO was communicated as they managed to produce a Beta version display:

09 - Steen Iversen (IMAX) - New "Director of Advanced Display Technology"

Steen Iversen was recruited in early 2019. Steen Iversen has been Technical Director and General Manager of IMAX Theaters International's European office.

Description of Steen Iversen from PM:

"Based on his computer engineering background, Steen Iversen holds a dozen patents in the field of image processing and display technologies, and he is the co-founder of several companies. These include Sirius 3D, specialized in image processing for large format cinema, and ColorCode 3-D ApS which is the inventor of 3D glasses used for broadcast campaigns, cinemas and the web with over 150 million units sold. "

Steen Iversen is employed by Realfiction to lead the work with ECHO.

Interesting news was communicated on January 20, 2020. Søren Jørgensen was recruited as a new board member and will soon be elected at the AGM.

12 – AmTRAN

One of the major owners of Realfiction is AmTRAN. AmTRAN is one of the world's largest display manufacturers of a variety of displays within different types of LCD / LED variants, examples of products manufactured and sold and where their displays are used primarily:

Point Of Sale (POS) equipment

Main markets are the United States, Japan and Europe.

AmTRAN manufactures products for Realfiction
In March 2019, AmTRAN's management received information on ECHO => AmTRAN subsequently increased its holding in Realfiction
In November 2019, AmTRAN has further expanded its ownership in Realfiction. The investment was aimed towards ECHO.
AmTRAN has a wholly owned subsidiary in Kraken Technologies with a very interesting customer base, read more under the next item.

13 - AmTRAN/Kraken Technologies + ECHO

Very interesting in this context is that AmTRAN also has a wholly owned subsidiary in Kraken Technologies. In Kraken Technologies, new products and technologies are continuously being developed. Realfiction is available with Dreamoc after just over a minute into presentation film for Kraken Technologies.

14 - Directional Pixel-deal Lightfield Labs raises $28 M

An interesting deal was completed in 2019 where Lightfield Labs raised $28 M from Samsung, Verizon Ventures, Bosch Venture, NTT Docomo, among others. This is to develop very large displays: "video walls for live event and large-scale installations"

This is one of many companies that use today's technology in lightfield/directional pixels, which is confirmed by experts to have a number of very limited functions and direct weak / bad functions mentioned earlier.

ECHO from Realfiction thus eliminates ALL these limitations and sweeps the track with all other known technology in lightfield / directional pixels

15 - ECHO - Licensing or acquisitions? - Clear signals that something major is going on

Ever since Realfiction first communicated about ECHO, there have been signals that ECHO is the technology that ALL wanted to discover => "Until now, the unfounded Holy Grail in holography!" also “It could potentially set a new standard for home entertainment, how we experience TV shows, series and movies on our phones, tablets and TVs, compared to the switch from black and white to color TV”

16 - The Ultimate Investment - Realfiction / ECHO - Strong signals tells us it is

At the beginning of this blog / analysis, I mentioned that during my 30 years I was looking for a new technology that can achieve a global breakthrough and bring about a paradigm shift.

I also posted a graph for Fingerprint Cards that got a huge breakthrough in fingerprint reading.

The potential could be much greater in ECHO.

IF ECHO works as described - ECHO IS EXCELLENT!

Does ECHO work as described?

YES! PoC is available for both 3D/Holography, as well as for ECHO ENERGY.

Remember what Realfiction told the market:

At a share-price of SEK 17 ($1,73), Realfiction has a market cap of about SEK 265 M ($26,9 M).

Conclusion: In my opinion, Realfiction has the potential to be the ultimate investment. ECHO can mean an opportunity that's not usual.

Realfiction also has sales of approximately SEK 20-25 M ($2-2.5 M) /year on other operations.
